Bună Ziua to you! This is Romanian for “good day”..
Allthough it has been more than a month ago since my retreat in Romania, the echoes can still be noticed in my daily life and practice..
Longing for experiences
My last dive in meditation was 2,5 years ago just before my son was born. Since then there has been a strong longing to connect again with silence, meditation and Yoga..
Actually it was more a longing to connect with the experiences that give me the faith to proceed on the path of Yoga and meditation.
And the experiences I was longing for, well I had them..
- The first night I had a spontaneous lucid dream, I decided to fly!!
- I felt myself being four times my regular size
- I had an awakening of Kundalini
- My heart opened wide in love
- I was overwhelmed by tears and joy
- I saw a bright white light at the level of Ajna chakra, the third eye and it was flickering like a stroboscope..
What is really interesting
Really cool huh? So i thought as well.. So I wrote a note for the teacher, Sahajananda, asking him if my experiences are showing that I am heading in the right direction… (Apparently i still need confirmation
He read my note out loud and said: “In a way yes, what you are experiencing are signs of a deepening in meditation..” he then continued: “But I would also like to refer to Swami Sivananda who said that if you want to see lights you’d better go to the disco.”
What is far more interesting according to Sahajananda, Sivananda and many more spiritual teachers is the realisation of the fact that you are consciousness..
Behind every experience there is pure consciousness just witnessing the occurring events. There is a stillness there which is far bigger and larger than any experience..
Experiences support faith
In the beginning people come to Yoga for the experiences, and also myself, I seem to need those experiences to feel that something is happening and the reassure that Yoga is true and it actually works.
Eventually it does not even matter what kind of experience you are having, all experiences, sensations and thoughts all come from the same source…
The experience you get from identification with silence is peace and relaxation.. Which is exactly what I am experiencing more in daily life..
What are you identified with during meditation, Yoga or even daily life? The experience or the silence behind the experience?
